Privacy statement
Inís Communication has created this statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses information gathering practices for the People Connector (PCO).
Information automatically logged by the PCO
When you use the PCO site, we register your computer's IP address into a logging/tracking system. We use this information to track the use of the site, to compile a profile of where in the world our site visitors are from, to help diagnose problems with our servers and to administer our sites.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data that is stored on a visitor's hard drive while they are visiting web sites. For the PCO, cookies are only used to identify one unique visitor from another during a given session. A session is the period of active site-use while that unique visitor is linked to our server. We may use cookie technology during a session as a tool to carry forward your input information during use of the system. No personally identifiable information is stored on the cookie. The cookie expires and is deleted from the visitor's computer as soon as they close their browser or if they are not actively browsing the PCO site. Should a previous visitor to our web site return for a new session, they will be issued a new cookie and in no way will they be recognized as a visitor from a previous visit or session.
Information about you submitted through site forms
Some of the PCO registration forms request users to provide contact information (like name, email, country location). Contact information is used to follow-up with your enquiries. Your contact information will be available in the contacts section of your community and accessible only by your community members. Your email address will be used as the primary channel for communicating news, discussions, new developments and resources. At no time is communication within the system anonymous.
We will not sell, disseminate, disclose, trade, transmit, transfer, share, lease or rent any personally identifiable information to any third party not specifically authorized by you to receive your information except as we have disclosed to you in this Privacy Policy.
Full opt-in policy
Opt-in membership policy: Inís manages the PCO in support of people affected by and/or working on issues related to health and development. To protect individuals from any unwanted mails, Inís operates an opt-in policy, which includes sending uniquely coded confirm messages to all people requesting to join the PCO.
Choice/opt-out policy
Even with this proactive measure in place, however, Inís does occasionally hear from individuals who are subscribed to the PCO, but who do not wish to be. For this reason, Inís also operates a continuous opt-out policy for all its PCO participants.
To completely remove your email address at any time, see specific instructions or send an email for further help. Please state clearly the names of communities you are referring to. Inís guarantees a human response to such requests within 48 hours of receipt.
Messages and resources sent to the PCO
- Respect people's privacy – DO NOT post private email or other communications without the permission of the author of the message. It may violate copyright, and also is not respectful.
- DO NOT reveal any identifying information of third parties without their explicit prior consent. This might include obvious information like name, email address, country, phone number, but is also especially important in relation to written descriptions of family, community or work situations/contexts that may inadvertently reveal the identity of people living with conditions or under circumstances that may be subject stigma and/or discrimination.
- You should be aware that any information that is disclosed as part of PCO exchanges becomes ‘public information’ among members of that specific PCO community and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal or identifying information.
- Please also remember that other individuals may unintentionally reveal information about themselves to you. If in any doubt about this type of sensitive or identifying information and/or circumstances in relation to any PCO contribution: i) do not submit the relevant message or specific content; ii) seek clarification/permission from the individual concerned, and/or iii) consider ways in which the message can be editied/made anonymous so that the value of the experience is retained but identities are fully protected.
